NIFW Recommends: Advent Resources

As the Advent season approaches, we at NIFW want to provide resources for you, your colleagues, family, and friends to prepare well for our celebration of Christ's coming. With holiday parties, end-of-the-year celebrations, and the overall hustle and bustle of the season, Advent is often over before we even realize that the season has begun.

Our hope is that these resources will help you to pause and reflect on how the coming of Jesus changes everything – how we live, how we relate, and how we work. May these resources guide you to Jesus and encourage you with hope throughout this Advent season.

1. Hope is Born: An Advent Journal for Waiting & Working — Max De Pree Center for Leadership

This FREE resource is designed to help you attend to the promise that God has for you in your work and be reminded of hope. Through an adaptation of the ancient practice of Lectio Divina, this journal guides you to read or listen to passages of Scripture, reflect on them, ask God for wisdom and understanding, and respond to God’s invitation. During the season of Advent, let’s pay attention to how God can meet us in the midst of our pain, grief, and longing and see how hope is born in our hearts.

2. When God gives a gift: Daily Advent readerChrist Presbyterian Church

Christ Presbyterian Church has designed this reader to help you meditate on God’s gift to you, Jesus Christ. As you proceed, recall that Jesus Christ is God’s gift to you—a gift that only he could give, and the only gift he could give that would cost you nothing and give you everything.
